Cowboys and Cornbread
Sunday July 17, 2016
Drive up, Hitch up or Giddy-up! It’s time for Cowboys and Cornbread; a day-long celebration of old-fashioned fun and friendly competition at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville, California.
Cowboy Up and throw your hat in the ring for one of the many contests and competitions. Buckaroos can get a hands-on taste of the cowboy life at the kiddy corral. Chock full of crafts, games galore, hay maze and pony rides too. Don’t forget about Mutton Bustin where young cowboys and cowgirls ride sheep for fame and glory and the Pee Wee Rodeo always a crowd favorite.
Get a glimpse of the old west with the Hangtown Marshalls, blacksmith and gold panning demonstrations and stage coach rides. There’s live entertainment on two stages and non stop carryin’ on all day.
This a family friendly event that began as a small gathering to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Pony Express Re-Ride in 2010. The event has grown in size and popularity adding fun new elements each year. In 2013, the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce and El Dorado County Visitors Authority joined forces with the El Dorado County Fairgrounds to offer Cowboys and Cornbread a permanent home. The shaded grounds, covered arenas, ample parking offer a perfect spot to kick up your heels and celebrate the country lifestyle.
